The Marconi Center became a secret listening station for the US military intercepting German U-boat messages in the Atlantic the day after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. The tides were turned to the Allies favor largely due to the work done here—where the museum now operates.

With the challenge of a modest budget and small space, H2 saw opportunities to bring interpretive exhibition design and communication techniques to the project. Opened in May of 2025, it includes large-scale graphics, new object cases, multimedia, and a clear hierarchy of storytelling. An authentic radio operator’s desk and a battleship door help immerse visitors in the tension of the World War II era.

Of note are two exquisitely custom made replica, period-accurate television sets which play film from the war. These were created by the H2 team’s Scott Ciprari.
