It’s 1775 in Newport, Rhode Island. Tensions are rising as the American colonies grow increasingly discontent with the British Crown. Inside a small print shop, the Franklin Printing Press—brought over from London—is producing broadsides rallying support for the Patriot cause. It is a volatile moment in Newport.

“Whose Side Are You On?” is a long-term exhibition that invites visitors to explore Newport at the dawn of the American Revolution.

As the nation marks the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, this exhibition is timely and deeply relevant. It examines how media—like the printed word—can influence opinion, and how political differences can unite or fracture families, friendships, and entire communities.

H2 Design created all content and graphics, produced all exhibits and media, and installed the exhibition, opening it to the public in 2025.
