From the Groves: Lakeland’s Citrus Story is the second project designed and built by H2 Design for the City of Lakeland, Florida. It opened in January 2025 and welcomed more than 11,000 visitors to 1500 square feet of gallery space in its first six months.

The exhibition transports guests into sun-dappled orange groves complete with the scent of orange blossoms. It is here that visitors explore how the citrus industry shaped the growth of Lakeland and earned it the title of the “World Citrus Center.”

H2 provided all interpretive planning, design, production, media, and installation services. Bold graphics, interactive dialogue stations, reflection zones, five touchscreens, a film, hands-on experiences, artifact displays, and immersive scenic environments–which include the replicated back of a 1950s era pick up truck–create this immersive look at Lakeland’s history.
